It’s the little things
As London gears up for Pride 2016, there’s a nice little touch from the London Mayor and his team of designers; around Trafalgar Square, the traditional green man that features on traffic lights has been replaced by a variety of LGBT-friendly icons. The designs include depictions of same-sex couples holding hands, their arms forming a heart shape, and were installed free of charge by Siemens.
Pride London Director Alison Camps commented, “This small symbol is a big gesture from the Mayor of London and TfL, and we’re delighted to have their support. For many people acceptance and tolerance is a luxury they don’t have, and these lights are another display of how welcoming and accepting London is.”
